Just a quick reminder that the bus will be leaving at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning for our field trip.  Don't forget to bring a lunch and plenty of water.  We will return to school before the end of the school day, so students will be able to take their regular bus home.

Thanks!

October 13th

I hope everyone had a wonderful four day break together.  Hopefully everyone got out to enjoy the last of the beautiful fall days.  It won’t be long before the snow is flying.  We have another jammed packed week, even though it will only be a four day school week.  On Wednesday we will be heading to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute.  We will be putting all of our excellent learning to use with many hands-on activities.  Thank you all for turning in your permission slips ahead of time.   Don’t forget to pack a lunch and snacks from home for Wednesdays field trip.  Everyone should bring a bottle of water as well.  Friday is Grandparents Day from 8:30 - 10:30 am.  This is always a fun day for everyone.
Did you get a chance to check out our classroom blog?  It is bullenh.blogspot.com.  I think I put an @ in there the first time and it doesn’t need it.  Sorry!

Here are some upcoming dates to add to your calendar:

10/16 - Gr. 5 Field Trip to Gulf of Maine Institute

10/18 - Grandparents Day (8:30am-10:30am)

10/22 - Flu Shots (AM)

10/23-10/25 - Cromwell Center visits w/Gr. 3, 4 & 5

10/29 - Photo Retake Day (AM)

10/29 - Mahoosuc Arts Performance @ 10AM

Don’t forget to send in the permission slip for your child to get a flu shot on October 22nd if you would like them to have their shot at school.  I only have had a couple of students return the permission slip so far.

Book orders are due Monday, October 21st if you would like to order.

Students should continue to read for 60 minutes each week.  This weeks log will run from Tuesday to Monday.  Student need to spend 15 minutes each night on IXL as well.  Thank you for helping to make sure your child is completing these assignments each week.

As always, thank you for sharing your children with me.  Have a wonderful week.

Here is a preview of what we will be doing at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute!

Here we go...I am going to try to attempt to do a weekly blog.  For some reason this tends to always prove to be a challenge for me to keep up with, but I have a feeling that this is the year!

Wow!  What a whirlwind month September was and here it is already October 7th.  Times sure does fly when you are having fun.  Although the last few weeks have been full of NWEA's and NECAPS's, we were able to squeeze in some pretty amazing field trips.  We went the the 4H camp at Bryant Pond and went the Sunday River for zip-lining, bungie jumping, rock climbing, Chondola ride, and a special pizza lunch.  It has been quite a nice break from all the testing.  I have posted a few pictures for you to enjoy and I will print the other to send home with the students.

As you can see, we had an amazing time!

This Wednesday, we will have Joyce Magnin, a children's author come visit our classroom for a day of writing.  We are very excited to have a real life author visit our class.  I sent home a postcard with a little information about her book, Cake.

At the end of this week, we should have completed our NECAP's.  It will feel great to get back into our regular schedule.  Don't forget that we will be heading to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute on Wednesday, October 16th.  We are very exciting to put our new learning into action.

Don't forget to turn in your weekly reading logs.  Right now you have from Monday to Monday to read and record 60 minutes of reading.  Students should also be spending about 15 minutes each night on IXL and Xtra Math practice.  Thank you for your continued support with homework.  It is such an important piece of the whole puzzle when getting ready for middle school.

As alway, thank you for sharing your child with me.

Until next week,

Mrs. Bullen
